ROAD TRIPPING WITH THE KIDS MADE SIMPLE

ROAD TRIPPING WITH THE KIDS MADE SIMPLE

Since Covid is finally starting to release its grasp on our world, we can finally all get back to doing the activities we love most. For our family, we love to travel and take road trips.

But as most parents must know, long trips in the car with young children can be difficult. They get anxious and bored. Without plenty of things to do and things that make them feel comfortable, a fun road trip can quickly turn into a nightmare. But it doesn't have to be that way.

With these five tips that I am about to share with you, road tripping with kids is simple and even enjoyable. Continue reading to find out how to have a seamless car trip with your little ones.

1. PLAN FOR BATHROOM STOPS

As adults, we know how to keep our bathroom breaks to a minimum and hold our bladder. But kids haven't fully grasped that skill yet.

Make sure to calculate more time for bathroom breaks than you would if it was just you and your partner. Have a list of all the rest stops on the way to your destination. This tip will keep both you and your child calm and happy.

2. PLAY GAMES AND ENGAGE

Kids can get lonely and bored by themselves in the backseat. That is especially the case if you only have one child.

The best way to remedy this is to engage with them. Talk about where you're going with the child and all the exciting things you will do when you get there. You can also play some classic car games such as I Spy.

3. PACK A TABLET OR A DVD PLAYER

Movies are great for keeping children occupied and entertained at home. The same goes for the car.

If you have a tablet, try downloading a movie or two that your child would like. By downloading the movies, you can avoid the need for WIFI. The tablet is also great for games. If you don't own a tablet, try bringing a portable DVD player or laptop along with one of your child's favorite movies.

4. DON'T FORGET THE SNACKS

If your kids get hungry all the time at home, it's not going to be any different on the road, especially once you pass their favorite restaurant.

Pack an abundance of all of your kids' favorite car-friendly snacks. You can also try to pack sandwiches for meals. It will help save money, reduce your amount of stops, and keep the kids full and happy.

5. MAKE THE COMFORTABLE

And last but certainly not least, make your little ones comfortable.

If this is their first trip in a while, they may be nervous. They may not know what to expect. So, bring along their favorite blanket and pillow; this will help get them comfy and cozy for the long journey.
