HOW TO CHOSE THE RIGHT COLOUR PALETTE FOR YOUR LIVING AREA

The living room is where some of the greatest family memories are made.

From your baby's first steps to Christmas mornings with the little ones, we can all remember something magical happening in the center of our homes.

Curating the perfect space can make these moments so much more special.

Part of curating the perfect living room is choosing the right color palette for you and your family. And today, I would like to share with you some simple tips that can help you figure out what color palette will work best in your living room.

PICK YOUR PAIRING METHOD

Your color pairing will determine how you put colors together. There are two different methods we will cover in today's article, including complementary/contrast and monochromatic.

COMPLEMENTARY / CONTRAST

Now, many might say these color pairing options are different, but really, they're the same. Complementary and Contrast is when you pick colors that oppose each other on the color wheel or two close to each other. For example, blue and orange or blue and green. They will play off of one and another, creating a notable pop in your living space.

MONOCHROMATIC

A monochromatic color pairing is barely a pairing at all. When you choose a monochromatic scheme, it will usually be one color in the same shade or tone. Some people may venture out a little bit and add in various shades of the same color. Think light green, on medium green, on dark green.

Once you choose between these color pairing options, it will be smooth sailing on the way to your perfect color palette.

SET THE TONE

When I refer to tone, I'm referring to the feeling you want to send to people in your living room. Do you want people to feel comfy and cozy, bright and cheerful, or simply serene?

COMFY AND COZY

If you're going for a comfy and cozy vibe, try using warm colors, such as brown, burnt orange, reds, and other members of the warm color family. You can even add in some white or black to break up the color.

BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL

Any color of the rainbow can work for setting a bright and cheerful tone in your living room. The color wheel is your best friend - have a free for all. If you don't want the room to feel like the inside of a crayon box, try adding some white to your color palette. It will add a crisp touch to a brightly colored room.

SIMPLY SERENE

A simply serene living room tone should feature colors that make people feel calm and relaxed. Pairing some muted greens and blues along with white can make you feel as if you're in a luxury resort.

No matter which one you choose, your family is sure to love it.
