CELEBRATING LOVE WITH FAMILY ON VALENTINE'S DAY

CELEBRATING LOVE WITH FAMILY ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Alessia loves so many things: from nature, to her family, to spending time in the kitchen crafting delicious treats. So of course, one of Alessia’s favorite holidays is a special day dedicated to celebrating love in all of its fabulous forms. Valentine’s Day is always a super fun and joyful occasion in our house! Here are some of our suggestions, inspired by Alessia’s favorite ways to celebrate, to spread the love throughout your family this Valentine’s day:

CELEBRATE SELF-CARE AND CONFIDENCE

The most important person in your life to show love to is, first and foremost, always yourself. On Valentine’s day, take the time to treat yourself to things that make you feel beautiful and joyful, and encourage family members to do the same. One of Alessia’s favorite Valentine’s day self-care traditions is getting a professional blow dry and then showing off her curls at school. When we take the time to treat ourselves to things that make us feel beautiful, we can develop the confidence for a more joyful life.

SWEET TREATS

Of course, what would Valentines be without delicious treats in fun holiday shapes? One of Alessia’s yearly favorites are fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate. We also always have a decadent family dinner with hand-decorated cookies and cake. Valentine’s day is such a great time of year to let your family members’ creativity shine in the kitchen, using fun bright colors like reds, pinks, and purples or edible glitters, sprinkles, and cute heart shapes.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE SIMPLE TRADITIONS

It can be tempting to go all-out for Valentine’s day. But it is important to remember that, sometimes, the most special ways to celebrate love are also the most simple. One of Alessia’s favorite Valentine’s day traditions is actually the simple treat of watching a movie in bed. Establishing simple traditions like this based on connection and time spent together with family can help your family appreciate the value of love beyond the materialism that can sometimes be associated with the season.
