THE MOTHER-DAUGHTER CONNECTION IS LIKE NO OTHER
The connection between a mother and daughter is like no other. I am sure we have all heard this sentiment before, but it's for a reason.
When life blesses a woman with a daughter, she is guaranteed a best friend forever. Alessia and I know that to be a fact.
Although much of a mother-daughter relationship comes naturally, a significant part comes from learning and growing together through everyday activities.
Today we want to discuss how many women and girls everywhere build their parent-child relationship, including ourselves. Your mother-daughter connection is one of the most important to foster.
ONE ON ONE BONDING TIME
As a parent, it's easy to forget that we have to take time to do more than guide our children through challenges life throws their way. That's where one on one bonding time is essential.
Our daughters don't simply learn to trust us when we're there for them to work through tough times. They also need to know you're there to celebrate the fun parts of life.
Even if it's only once a month, take your daughter out for a mommy-daughter date. Introduce her to one of your childhood or current interests. That is one of the best ways to foster a strong connection with your child. It allows you to get to know each other personally.
WORKING TOGETHER BUILDS CHARACTER
Working together is something Alessia and I are very familiar with, thanks to starting this company last year. And we attribute this as a big reason why our relationship is the way it is today.
Not everyone wants to start a company with their child, and we get it. But working together can come in other forms.
Think about starting a home or intense craft project with your daughter. These projects will allow you and your child to work together and discover each other's strengths. Working together on a business or project can create mutual respect between mother and child.
IT'S OK TO BE THEIR FREIND ... SOMETIMES
Some may disagree, but part of being a parent is being your child's friend. You don't have to always show a tough exterior.
But it isn't as simple as saying, "I'm your friend" - you need to show them.
Playing together is one of the best ways to demonstrate this. Whether your little girl loves to play with dolls or draw, join in on the activity with them. They will love you for it, and it will help you develop a deeper understanding of them.
EMBRACE EVERY PART OF HER
The world can be a harsh place, but your daughter should always know you're there to show kindness and grace. Embrace every part of her unique personality.
Don't get me wrong - it's okay to let your child know that you're upset with something they did. But it's all how you tell them.
Always listen before you react. And continuously tell them what you appreciate most about their character. The way you embrace her, she will embrace you in return.
