CANADA DAY FUN FOR KIDS
Canada Day is right around the corner and here at AlessiaAdora, we are so excited to start celebrating. It’s a great time to decorate the backyard, bake delicious treats, and gather with your loved ones. It’s even better when we get to do it with the little ones in our lives. Kids love to join in on the patriotic fun. To help you get the kids involved in Canada Day festivities, we’re going to share with you a kid-friendly craft, recipe, and history lesson.
CANADA DAY PRETZELS
For this yummy patriotic dessert recipe, you will need the following supplies and ingredients.
Supplies:
- A Microwave-Safe Bowl
- A Cookie Sheet
- A Spoon
- Parchment or Wax Paper
Ingredients:
- White Chocolate Chips or White Melting Wafers
- Olive Oil
- A Bag of Your Favorite Pretzels
- Red and White Sprinkles
Now that you have all of your ingredients and supplies, let’s get to baking.
Step one:
Line your cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.
Step two:
Place your chocolate in the microwave for thirty-second intervals, stir in between until the chocolate is fully melted.
Step three:
Once the chocolate is melted, slowly stir in one teaspoon at a time of olive oil into the chocolate until the mixture flows off of your spoon.
Step four:
Begin to dip your pretzels one at a time into the chocolate. Be sure to allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the pretzels on your cookie sheet.
Step five:
After every five pretzels placed on the cookie sheet, coat them in your red and white sprinkles.
Step six:
Let your chocolate-covered pretzels sit in the fridge for a few hours to harden and then serve.
This simple treat is easy to make with kids and is enjoyable for all ages.
DIY STREAMER WANDS
DIY outdoor decor can look cute and also offer amazing fun. These DIY Canada Streamers will look great in your yard and bring your little ones joy.
All you will need is the following supplies.
- Red and White Wooden Dowels (You can paint them)
- Red and White Wooden Beads
- A Strong Glue of Your Choice
- Scissors
Have all of your supplies? Let’s get crafty.
Step one:
Cut two long strips of each of your ribbons.
Step two:
Attach the ribbons to the wooden dowel by placing the glue on it and wrapping the tail-end of the ribbons around it.
Step three:
Place one wooden bead on top of the dowel using your glue and you’re finished. Now you have a cute and functional outdoor décor piece. They will look great placed in garden beds.
O’ CANADA SING-ALONG
An easy and fun way to teach your kids a fact about Canada day is by singing the national anthem. After you sing with them, you can tell them that on July 1st, 1980 (Canada Day), The song was officially proclaimed as the national anthem.
